It is the ambition of Ho Chi Minh City to develop further towards the sea, facilitating opportunities for economic and port development while at the same time creating room for future urban development. It is of paramount importance that these developments will take place in a sustainable and integrated manner, most notably adapted to the impacts of climate change.

Current plans need to be made “climate proof” to take the effects of climate change better into account. The overall objective of the project is therefore:

Enable and guide the long-term sustainable socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City towards the sea, taking into account the effects of climate change.

In the project a Climate Adaptation Strategy is developed and current spatial plans as well as related development plans are reviewed. Training through specific training sessions and on the job coaching is also part of the project.
